Frequently Asked Questions

Does Yuma's heat affect how long epoxy lasts?

Yes, significantly. Yuma's sustained extreme heat and near-constant direct sun cause two specific problems standard epoxy struggles with: hot tire pickup, where a hot tire lifts or marks a softened coating, and UV chalking or fading over time. A coating specified with this climate in mind lasts considerably longer than a generic system installed without accounting for it. See our epoxy flooring overview for the full breakdown.

What is "hot tire pickup" and how do I avoid it?

Hot tire pickup happens when a vehicle's tires, heated by direct sun and hot pavement, are parked on a coating that isn't fully cured or isn't rated to resist heat softening. The heat and the tire's flex can lift the coating away from the slab or leave permanent marks. Avoiding it comes down to proper slab prep, a coating system rated for this climate, and letting the coating fully cure before parking on it. See our garage floor epoxy page for more detail.

Is polyaspartic or polyurea better than epoxy for a Yuma garage?

For garages with significant direct sun exposure, generally yes — these systems cure faster, resist heat softening better, and hold UV stability better than standard epoxy alone. For lower-exposure spaces, a properly prepped standard epoxy system can still perform well. See our polyaspartic & polyurea page for the full comparison.

How long does the floor need to cure before I can park on it?

It depends on the system. Standard epoxy generally takes longer; polyaspartic and polyurea systems cure faster, sometimes allowing vehicle traffic within a day or two. We'll give you a specific timeline for your system and the season you're coating in when we quote the job.

Do you repair cracks before coating, or is that separate?

Crack repair, moisture testing, and grinding all happen before any coating goes down — it's part of the same job, not a separate service you have to arrange on your own. See our concrete repair & prep page for how that process works.

What's the difference between residential and commercial coatings?

Commercial coatings are specified against actual loads and conditions — forklift traffic, chemical exposure, heavier point loads — rather than applied as a larger version of a residential system. Surface prep also scales up, often meaning shot blasting instead of hand grinding. See our commercial epoxy flooring page for more.

Can outdoor patios be coated the same way as a garage?

Not exactly. Outdoor applications need a genuinely UV-stable topcoat, since there's no roof to reduce sun exposure, plus slip-resistant texture for wet areas like pool decks. See our patio & outdoor coatings page for the details.

How does pricing work / how do I get a quote?

Call or text us with a description or a few photos of your space, and we'll quote it before scheduling anything. Cost depends on square footage, slab condition, and which system you choose. We don't publish flat rates because every job is different, but you'll always have a real number before we start.

Do you serve both year-round residents and seasonal/winter homes?

Yes. Yuma's population swells with an estimated 90,000 additional seasonal residents each winter, and we work with both year-round homeowners and owners of seasonal properties, including timing projects around when winter residents arrive.

How long does the whole project take start to finish?

Most residential garage jobs run one to a few days depending on the system and any repair work needed, plus cure time before full use. Larger commercial jobs vary more based on square footage and scope. We'll give you a realistic timeline when we quote your specific job.

Do you offer flake or decorative finish options?

Yes. Flake systems broadcast decorative vinyl or quartz chips into the base coat for added texture and a finished look, and they're a popular choice for residential garages. See our garage floor epoxy page for how standard and flake systems compare.
